until 24.06. | The next exhibition in SMAC, a project and exhibition space on Lininenstraße, opened on 31st May 2018. Shown is Anina Brisolla with new works in the exhibition “space mining”.
An exhibition on the resource of depletion in space – a future that, according to scientists, is imminent and already triggers a new gold rush mood. Anina Brisolla’s work revolves around this topic in various media and questions the motives of the actors.
“Space mining” refers to concepts for the mining of raw materials in space. In twenty years’ time, it will likely be possible to apply these techniques, optimistic scientists predict.
“Space mining” would then have a huge effect on the global economy. Already it is spoken of the “New Space Economy”. The next gold rush seems only a matter of time.

The search for resources has always inspired the human spirit, the endeavor therefore has had a lasting impact on human history.
Globalization has again mapped the world and revealed a finiteness of raw materials. It will show what pattern the increasing private-sector use of the universe will follow.

“Space mining” must therefore seem like a consistent continuation of history for the actors, a logical development for the economic benefit of the human species. A development that also promises big profits.
Anina Brisolla’s exhibition “space mining” starts at this point, reflects the theme artistically and questions the motives of the actors.
