Vintage charm combined with sensuality and a pinch of irony – in mid-April, the new art exhibition ‘WOMEN IN FOOD’ presents contemporary collages and combines food adverts from the 1950s to the 1980s with modern fashion photographs.
How has the portrayal of women in the media changed from the 1950s to the present day?
And are there still parallels to the past?
As a photographer of many years’ standing, Bastian takes photographs of women and lets them immerse themselves in the worlds of food advertising from the past. In contrast to the campaigns of yesteryear, the female protagonists take centre stage and are intended to highlight the timeless sensuality and complacency of modern women.
