until 10.12. | #3681ARTatBerlin | Galerie Inga Kondeyne – Raum für Zeichnung presents from 29. October 2022 (Vernissage: 29.10.) the exhibition by the artist Eve Aschheim.
The exhibition is located in the “Backstage” of the gallery Inga Kondeyne – Raum für Zeichnung.
From the draughtswoman Eve Aschheim from New York, we show backstage once again a selection of her new works, which were created during the isolation by Corona measures in New York. Despite everything, it was an inventive time in which she experienced a new way of responding mentally to uncertainties. The pencil guides her hand across her preferred material, Mylar. Pencil lines tentatively occupy the page and suddenly the blue magically and translucently spreads across the surface from behind. The interweaving of spaces and their expansion into interstices already characterised Eve Aschheim’s drawings in her early work. With elementary, precisely placed graphic elements, she builds up complex structures in the pictorial space and destabilises them at the same time – sometimes explosively. Beneath the layered, permeable surface is a suspended state with radical linear anchors. Traces in subtle shades of white and black gain importance. They become fixed settlements and sometimes lead to elemental transformations on the surfaces of other drawings.
Arc/h, 2019, graphite, black gesso, ink, gouache on mylar, 43 x 28 cm
Aschheim observes the recent changes in her life with trepidation, but at the same time recognises that inconsistencies and unpredictability can lead to a new beginning.
Opening: Saturday, 29 October 2022, 4 to 7 p.m.
