Chert opened on September 2008 on Ritterstraße in Berlin Kreuzberg. The gallery has been located in Berlin-Schöneberg since 19 March 2022. Founded by Jennifer Chert, the program focuses on young, international contemporary art, without any specific media orientation. Solo exhibitions of the represented artists alternate between curated group shows and outdoor projects in the courtyard vitrines.

Chert is particularly dedicated to the production of artists’ books, editions and catalogues, regularly publishing printed materials by the represented artists. The gallery is regularly participating in international art fairs.
