The Barbara Weiss Gallery was founded in 1992 by Barbara Weiss with its headquarter in Potsdamer Straße. With an intellectually demanding and curatorially progressive approach, the gallery quickly established itself. Equally sensitive to artistic developments and political issues, the gallery has been characterized from its beginnings by a sustained interest in conceptually informed and feminist positions.
In 2011, Galerie Barbara Weiss has moved to its current location in Berlin-Kreuzberg. In continuation of its multifaceted and conceptual approach, the gallery has presented solo exhibitions of internationally renowned women artists in recent years.
Today the gallery is run by Bärbel Trautwein and Daniel Herleth, a position they have held since 2014. When Barbara Weiss passed away in 2016, Bärbel Trautwein and Daniel Herleth continued the gallery’s work, a continuity that emerged from the joint efforts of the past years.
