Johannes Vermeer is the great unknown of Dutch painting. In his painting, he brought the invisible to light through the visible. The old master achieved an immediacy in the depiction of his protagonists that was unusual for the time and thus became a role model for a young contemporary generation of artists.
The 17th meets the 21st century in the group exhibition “Vermeer Contemporary” from 25 August to 23 September 2023 (extended until 18 November), featuring 26 important contemporary positions. The exhibition, organised by the European Art Association in cooperation with DEEDS.NEWS – The Art Newspaper from Berlin at CSR.ART Contemporary Show Room, presents positions of today’s artists in a variety of ways with adapted elements from Vermeer’s art using their own artistic means. …
