until 22.04. | #0984ARTatBerlin | Salongalerie Die Möwe shows from 14th January 2017 “Von Gestern bis Heute. 150 Jahre Verein der Berliner Künstlerinnen”.
In 2017, the Verein der Berliner Künstlerinnen 1867 e.V. celebrates the 150th anniversary of its existence and, thus, is the oldest association of female visual artists in the German speaking area. On the occasion of this anniversary, we are, in our forthcoming exhibition, presenting works by members, students, and guest exhibitors of this association – from the beginning of their professional self-determination up to the present time. By means of paintings, drawings, and sculptures, this presentation will evoke an exciting dialogue between historical and contemporary positions.
By establishing their own school for painting and drawing, by social measures and periodical exhibitions, the Verein der Berliner Künstlerinnen has, since the end of the 19th century, been instrumental in bringing about social recognition for the profession of a female artist. Today, the association supports the development of contemporary lady-artists and preserves the history of their professional emancipation.
Vernissage: Friday, 13 January 2017, from 6 to 9 p.m.
The association’s chairperson, Ute Gräfin von Hardenberg, is opening the exhibition.
Exhibition period: Saturday, 14th January to Saturday, 22th April 2017
